an album of live ambient music made with an ancient battery powered keyboard and one effects pedal.

Tom Fraser celebrated the release of the Mirry album by selling lots of old effects pedals so he could buy a Hologram Microcosm pedal and then recorded these tunes one night in February 2021 and promptly forgot about them only to rediscover them this year.

Each track is a single live take of a mono 1982 Casiotone MT46 through a hologram microcosm pedal. Beyond editing the start and end points nothing else has been done to these recordings.This is the first in a series of 3 albums.

This album is a close relative of the first CASIOMTB album The Devil Take Your Stereo, self-released on floppy records in 2015, which was also an album of live one-take recordings of the Casiotone MT46 through an awful lot of pedals.

This is the fifth Casiomtb album on Floppy records, based in Edinburgh.
FORGOTNESS

If the world floods then it is northern europe that sinks first. Europeans become the refugees, and those that survive on the remaining hilltops will be living on whateverlow volt power that can be generated. Only acoustic and low voltage instruments will work.

Forgotness is a story written by Tom Fraser in 2016 and currently being worked on in the hopes of getting it ready for print later this year.
Isostatic Rebound is the force by which land masses return to their original shape. As the polar ice melts, the rock beneath shifts, and one or more of the currently dormant polar volcanos may become active causing more ice to melt. There are 60 known dormant volcanoes in the polar region. Sea levels could rise, not one metre in a hundred years but a hundred metres in one year.

At 200m the historically dominant countries of the northern hemisphere are underwater, their populations are the new refugees. The USA’s east and west coast are lost, the Mississippi delta splits the remaining country in half. Ireland, England, the Lowland nations, northern France, northern Germany, all of Poland, most of Russia are gone.

The UK has a problem: too many people on too little land. But there is nothing that privatisation cannot solve. Tickets are sold so a few can buy their way into the highlands of northern England and Scotland. Walls are built to keep the others out and, to stop pressure building up on these walls, the remainder of the population beyond are killed off. Those safely within try to forget. They live in Forgotness.

Forgotness starts 40 years after the Trident strikes. There are survivors beyond the walls, ekking a living on the hilltops of old England. One such group, based on the high ground around Uffington: White Horse Hill and Wayland’s Smithy, form a plan to send a group north to see if there is a way past the walls, to see if there is a place for them to live in safety and peace.

A sequel was written in the spring of 2020.
